World Environment Day

World Environment day began to be celebrated from 5 June 1974 and United Nations ( UN) decided on it in 1972 itself at the Stockholm Confrence on Human Environment. The discussion on the integration of human interaction with the environment led UN on the path of World Environment Day. In 1974 first World Environment Day was celebrated and it's theme was "only one Earth" in Spokane United States.

It is celebrated annually from 5 June with the goal of creating awareness and promoting actions for the protection of the environment. It's a global platform where 143 countries annually connect with each other on the platform with the same goal in mind.

Every year the theme is selected, buisness forum along with the participation of NGO communities and support from government is there. Celebrity are selected which act as brand ambassador which helps in promotion of the program. .

World Environment Day tries to sprout an idea in the mind of human mind about nature importance. Focus our mind on how intimidating and irreplaceable is nature in our life. How we are dependent on it for our survival.

In india only one World Environment have been held and it was held in 2011, The theme was Forest : Nature at your service , held in Delhi India. Beach clean up , concerts, exhibit, film festival , community event tree plantation and many other activities were planned and executed.

This year World Environment Day is held in Còte d'Ivoire and the theme " Solution to plastic pollution" was picked up. Ocean , river , sea are getting filled with plastic waste. Tortoise , fish are getting struck in the plastic , some even swallow it and die few days later. Overall the issues of Plastic pollution in the environment.
