Being Single
Yes, I am 30 yet unmarried, no boyfriend, single and not ready to mingle. Hey, don't think otherwise, I am straight not lesbian.
My relatives think I am not marriage material as my tongue is as blunt as a knife, I am not a great cook, my colour looks like their favourite "tea" and don't believe in the concept of bossy husbands and submissive wives.
Though my parents think differently, they once checked my phone and Facebook page and found more male friends than female friends, quite relieved to find their daughter is normal, not lesbian.
I avoid going to family functions, as they love to talk about my single status in hushed tones so loudly which I usually overhear.
It's not like I don't like the idea of marriage, it's just I am looking for a guy apart from looks and job profile, can cook at least dal-rice for dinner.
In a country like India where people are so concerned about what's going on in others life, its not easy to survive. Even in funerals, people find time to pity, oh! Mr Sharma's daughter has crossed 30 and still not married yet.
Huhhhh! Let all the uncles and aunties say whatever they want to say, I will marry only that guy who can cook dal-rice for me. What to do? I am not a swiggy person, I love home-cooked food.
Hey, I am not expecting biryani, it's only dal-rice, so simple.
Am I expecting too much?
