Anguish

Anguish

Clemens was a young boy of nine years of age. As a kid he dreamed big, he wished to be the richest in town He worked hard and studied. As a result, he was the smartest in class and he was also an obedient and peaceful boy But his life took a turning point at the age of fifteen. He was going home alone and drinking a soda. He was thinking about what homework he had to do.

Then came his friend Jeffrey, Jeffrey was a decent boy he had manners but was not so good at academics. He was sly and cunning, but he wasn't the type to get into and steal things. But he did have a big secret. Knowing that Clemens was a curious person he agreed to tell his secret. He asked him to wait for him in the school toilet after school at 2:50.

The next day, when they met Jeffrey showed him a pack of drugs and asked him to have some. Clemens' curiosity took control over him he took the pack and went home. The next day, Clemens looked just the same, but he did not feel the same. He was a bit more impatient, more irritated and had a weird smell. He met asked him for one more packet. This time, the sly Jeffrey agreed to do so, but for a thousand rupees. Clemens without hesitation gave him the money and took the drugs. It was like he was falling into a deep pit without any light. Seven years later, Clemens became the richest man in town or even in the country.

He would be invited to parties, political meetings and even host many TV shows. He was like a baby plant that had grown into a big tree. He was the most loved man in the town. Then he was invited to a party. He went to the party and mingled with them. A few moments later, he excuse himself and went into the restroom. He locked the door of the restroom and sat down. Then, out of the right pocket, he took out a pack of drugs.

Alas, he had become a big drug addict! He could no longer control himself. He had been confined to the chains of drugs. A few days later, he got a call that his friend Jeffrey had died. Shocked but calm. he went to the funeral of his friend. He was like a cold-blooded, emotionless figure. He did not even feel any sympathy. The funeral was going on, he looked at Jeffrey's parents. Seeing them, he was reminded of the hate he had for Jeffrey for being an addict himself and for bringing him into drugs.

But, he looked closer as Jeffrey's parents were crying. He saw himself falling into the same pit with no way out. He saw his parents mourning his death. He felt their grief and sorrow. It touched his heart. He also saw his future, he imagined his sons and daughters dying because of drugs. He could not bear to see it. Confused and dazed, Clemens left the funeral. Back in his office, he prayed to God, he asked him to take away the addiction.

Suddenly he felt a will something he had never felt before. He was empowered and the next day he did his best not to take drugs for a day then two days, then a week, then a month. As he was controlling himself, he felt an uncontrollable discomfort.

His body wanted the drugs but his heart and mind and soul resisted. Then finally he was freed. He no longer had the desire to take drugs. He was happy and fresh and satisfied. He left his sinful life behind. He now led a clean life. He thanked God and his family for helping him to get out of this drug addiction.
