The Pragmatic Sense of Covid-19
The Pragmatic Sense of Covid-19
In India, the first COVID-19 case was detected on 27th January 2020 and soon, COVID-19 cases reached skyrocketing high and the whole world went into lockdown. Lakhs and lakhs died, many widowed, many orphaned. What came as relief was the development of the vaccines. Though the situation has improved, it is far from being normal.
However, there is always a silver lining to every cloud and that holds for the cloud of COVID lingering over humanity too.
Humanity still exists: During the pandemic, the income source of many people was lost, many businesses closed down, and wage workers could not earn their wages. They even walked miles to return to their home. However, had it not been for obliging people, these men would have starved. Some people had come generously to help these people. Salaried
people too offered food and other necessities for these helpless people.
Virtual learning: During the pandemic, firing lockdown, schools and colleges were closed, and all the students across the globe were confined to their homes but there was no hamper on the education of the students because of the digital classes. Students continued with their education through online classes and interacted with teachers and mentors.
Minimizing the pollution: During the
lockdown, the roads were clear of any vehicles and there was zero-emission. There was no smoke, no pollution, but there was fresh air. It seems Mother Nature had some relief from the man-made destructions. The inhabitants of the earth could feel the calm and beautiful nature and its importance in everyone's life.
Judicious use of basic human requirements: The lockdown compelled people to do their work on their own. They had limited access to outdoor food and limited time for purchasing only a limited quantity of goods. We have learned to live with minimal things. We have also learned to work without the help of other workers.
Increased awareness of personal hygiene and health: The pandemic also taught the importance of one's health and how people neglected it so much. All of us came to know how a healthy person with a strong immune system is less likely to be affected by COVID. Most people began exercising, doing yoga, eating vegetables, and all those things that
people had very often neglected in their normal busy days. Also, people have developed the habit of wearing masks and regularly sanitizing which helps everyone to stay away from not only COVID but other diseases as well.
Following their passion: Having enough time people could continue with their hobbies, be it reading books, playing music, singing, drawing, gardening, etc. People could zone out from their busy lives, just sit back and relax. It was all such a blessing!
Family bonding: During the normal days. people could not give time to their families. but the lockdown enabled all the families to unite and give time to each other. There was enough time for the people to talk to their parents, brothers, and sisters, as well as grandparents. The happiest creatures during lockdown perhaps were the pets. How happy were they- seeing the family. together every day. It was the best time for them.
Closure of offices meant work. continued from home, but they were far less stressful than going to the office and working there. Everyone got a break from their busy schedule.
Overall, we can say that though the pandemic has brought about a lot of misery and sorrow to this world, the flip side is that it has been a blessing in disguise for all of us. So, instead of reminiscing over the bad memories, we should stay positive and start afresh because nothing is permanent in this world, not even troubles.
