Ghost of the Past

Shravani and Radhika went to Kartik's village called, "Rajgarh."

It was a beautiful village surrounded by greenery and was truly an earthly paradise for it's inhabitants.

As Shravani entered a small house, she saw the smoke coming out of the window of that house. She said to Kartik, "Something is burning, look at the smoke, please go and see if everything is alright!"

Kartik smiled at her and said to her, "Everything is alright, don't worry, my mother is cooking food for us!"

Shravani was embarrassed but she went inside to meet his mother, who was sitting amidst smoke and open stove so that she could cook food for her family, a wonderful woman and an amazing person indeed!"

When she saw his mother, she became emotional as she remembered her own mother who had died years ago. She had come all the way to know about her mother and father. She touched the feet of the woman, as she said, "Namaste" to her.

Kartik's mother Vanya, said to her, "Who are you Beti(daughter), have you come with Kartik, I am happy that he has made some new friends otherwise I have always seen him enjoying himself in the company of village dogs, monkeys and birds!"

Kartik said to his mother, "Please Mother, don't reveal all the family secrets in one day, otherwise they will run away from our house and you will never know that Shravani is the daughter of your best friend, Vasudha ji."

Vanya looked at Shravani with love and concern, she felt as if she was seeing the ghost of the tragic past of her best friend Vasudha and said to her, "Please go back to your place. This place is not safe for you. Kartik please take her to the bus stand tomorrow morning and help her in finding the right bus!"

Shravani looked at Radhika and said to Vanya, "But, why?"
